As part of the preamble of the International Conference on Air Services (ICAN), organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to be held later this year in Sri Lanka, Olivier Jean, Director General of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) and Luis Ernesto Camil, the President of the "Junta de Aviación Civil" of the Dominican Republic (JAC) signed at JAC headquarters after only two working meetings, the Memorandum of Understanding on the Air Services between the two countries, which establishes the legal framework that will govern bilateral air services relations.

This agreement is the 58th signed by the Dominican Republic with different countries of the world.

In describing this moment as "historic" Camilo expressed his satisfaction for the signing of this memorandum of understanding which strengthens the bilateral relations of the two Nations of the island, necessary to regulate the bases of the air transport and the possibility of new means of investment for tourism and trade.

Olivier Jean, who was accompanied by Aysha Flambert, his Legal Adviser and Phillipe Bayard, the Director of the Haitian company "Sunrise Airways" (as an observer), spoke in similar terms, emphasizing the cordiality and openness that prevailed throughout the negotiation process, announcing the willingness to quickly sign the final agreement.

It should be noted that before signing, the aeronautical authorities and their advisers were received by Miguel Vargas Maldonado, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with whom they discussed the positive impact of this Memorandum of Understanding "This is excellent news and an important step forward in bilateral relations between the two countries," said the Dominican Chancellor.
